Winter Wonderland: Resort at Squaw Creek

One of my favorite things about living in SF is you can escape the city life and be at the beach in a matter of minutes or drive a few hours and have mountains to hike and snow to play in. Since I wanted to jump start my winter early and get there before the big crowds, I aimed for the first weekend of December. With 5 on-site restaurants, an award winning luxury spa, 3 outdoor pools, hot tubs, a private ice skating rink along with other snow related activities like skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, Resort at Squaw Creek was the perfect choice.

Resort at Squaw Creek is the only AAA four diamond resort in Lake Tahoe and has been named a Gold List Resort by Conde Naste Traveler. Everything you want and need from a winter escape is conveniently located just outside of your suite. One of my favorite moments is sitting in the heated hot tub, sipping on wine and taking in Mother Nature’s beautiful view. Side note taking these outdoor pics was a freezing struggle, but as they say, “do it for the gram.”

If you wanted to take a break from the snow they had cute holiday activities set up like cookie decorating with frosting, candy and sprinkles, making s’mores by the outdoor fire pit and a breakfast buffet with Santa Claus. They also provided courtesy shuttle drop off and pick up to Village at Squaw Valley where there are various boutiques, restaurants and specialty shops. Another reason to visit this village, they hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics.

After an exhausting day of snowboarding or shopping, getting warm and cozy by the fireplace lobby was the ideal way to end the day. Don’t forget the side of hot cocoa.
